Preview The Lucie Plaster Chandelier at London Design Week 2025

Design Centre Chelsea Harbour March 10-14th

We are delighted to launch Martin Huxford's new hand sculpted plaster collection for 2025 at London Design Week in March. Innovative sculptural lanterns, chandeliers and sconces are re-imagined as Martin's distinctive style evokes the classic modernism of artists such as Hepworth and Adams.

This second preview from Martin Huxford's new collection introduces the Lucie Plaster Chandelier, a modernist sculptural interpretation of the classic grand chandelier.

Martin's re-imagining of the traditional chandelier introduces a refreshing clarity and purity of form, distinguished by its airy structure and the warmth of his hand sculpted textural detail. Martin exploits the unique material properties of plaster to create the flowing tapered bowls and delicate textured surface of the chandelier.

The Lucie chandelier is characterised by an elegant simple form, and a sensitivity to surface and texture. Martin's graduated bowl shade, with the smaller foot beneath, was influenced by his admiration for iconic modernist studio potter Lucie Rie.

The elegant, visual lightness of the chandelier is achieved using a welded steel frame, built up and contoured with layers of applied plaster. The simple minimalism of Martin's work is softened and transformed by the texture achieved with his hand sculpted plaster, lending the geometric outline a unique tactility and warmth.

From his studio based in the Sussex Downs, artist maker Martin Huxford breaks new ground with this latest innovative sculptural plaster lighting and mirror collection, launching at London Design Week March 10-14th 2025, Design Centre Chelsea Harbour.

Celebrating his studio's 10th anniversary, Martin Huxford's hand sculpted work is commissioned by leading designers for residential and special hotel projects around the world.
