We are delighted to announce the launch of our new sculptural plaster collection
A Vision Of Nature
Focus/24 The Longer View September 23 - October 11
Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, London
A Vision of Nature takes us to a world of surrealist shell forms, exuberant, exaggerated giant leaf-like shapes and simplified architectural flowers. Martin's work champions re-establishing our connection with nature, returning it to the centre of our world. The full sculpted plaster collection launches in London on September 23.
The first piece we would like to share from the new collection is the Ocean Sconce, which captures the essence of the ebb and flow of the ocean with its gently flowing design. The abstract shell like form suggests the drifting movement of seaweed, swept along in the current.
Evoking hints of the surreal, the Ocean Sconce brings expansive associations of open horizons, watery natural spaces and relaxation into our living spaces.
These abstract works are driven by Martin's interest in complex forms of nature as they push against our increasingly urban world. Working primarily in plaster, Martin has developed new techniques to achieve the rich sculptural forms of this extraordinary collection.
"It's been exciting to expand the possibilities of this traditional sculpting material, to enjoy the creative serendipity and direct personal expression it offers." Martin Huxford
