Martin Huxford Studio designs one-off custom and bespoke lights, with creative exchange at the heart of what we do. We love the process of collaborating with clients to create a unique light perfectly tailored to a particular interior.
Our Sussex based Studio has the capacity to scale production for luxury residential and hospitality projects, with large chandeliers such as the Concord Theatre foyer lights, the Hilton Park Lane ballroom chandeliers, to anything in between.
The Bespoke and Custom options are set out below.
Bespoke Sculpture Commissions - hand sculpted plaster lamps, sconces and chandeliers.
Martin’s plaster sculpture work is an exciting opportunity to work with him on bespoke pieces for your project. These can be made in white plaster, or hand patinated cold cast bronze and antique gold.
Bespoke Commissions - To create original light fittings for special interiors. Materials we commonly use include brass, bronze, alabaster, handsculpted plaster, mouth blown glass. eg. Paris - Metro Stair Light, Hilton, Congress Theatre
Custom Commissions - Using lighting designs from our collection, we can adapt by re-designing the size and scale of the light, or create a custom finish.
The Commissioning Process - All new commissions begin with an in-depth conversation about your project and your ideas for the space. The discussion starts with exploring what you wish to create with a custom light, in terms of decorative style, dimensions, materials, finishes and emotional impact.
In brief, the commission process includes setting a starting budget, producing a preliminary sketch drawing, material samples, revision, with a sign off on final drawings and quote before starting production.
Sharing your idea.
Exploratory discussions can be held at our studio where you can browse samples of materials and designs, or we can collaborate by email, zoom and phone. Both approaches work well, and we have very successfully designed custom and bespoke lights for both UK and overseas clients, such as the custom chandelier design for a project in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles
"Cannot thank you both enough for the beautiful design, craftsmanship, gauge & quality of materials, & exceptional all-around experience working from across the pond!! The clients are beyond thrilled, I am most happy, you hit every mark."
