Element Chandelier

Whether the Element is flush to the ceiling or suspended; round, rectangular, extended linear, half sphere, full sphere, cube, bowl or cupola. The design possibilities are endless.
The dramatic geometric shapes are created from hundreds of identical hand finished brass pieces, each interlocked to create an intricate structure which refracts the light source, forming subtle patterns.
Martin uses the grid, a central emblem of Modernist design as the organising principle for Element. The creation of order and form through layering, repetition and interconnection are key to this mathematically composed design, each brass piece linking to the next.
In Element, Martin references late sixties architecture, and sculptor Damian Ortega's 'Tortillas Construction Module' with a playful look at units of construction and their potential for exciting new forms.
Element is made from sustainable recycled solid brass, hand fabricated in West Sussex. Designed as a customisable piece, the interlinked grid structure of Element forms the basis for the production of a series of chandeliers and wall lights.
