The Cissbury Plaster floor lamp embodies Martin Huxford’s contemporary sculptural aesthetic, with his bold combination of simple organic shapes, hand applied texture and innovative use of obscured light. The design is rooted in his focus on the poetic forms and energy of the natural landscape, inspiring uniquely tactile, engaging pieces.

The strong silhouette of the Cissbury floor lamp creates a compelling light feature, with the organic simplicity of the design allowing light to spill in both directions from the pierced centre of the bowl. The texture on the tapered column and the sweeping curve of the bowl are both highlighted by the hidden light source.

Martin’s inspiration for the sculpture is grounded in the distinctive rolling downs of the local Sussex chalk landscape, in particular the profile of the celebrated Cissbury Ring, an ancient source of Neolithic flints, and one of the largest Iron Age hill forts in Britain.

Each floor lamp is handmade to order at the Sussex studio.
